Blog by PS... *Coco VS The Book of Life.

Comparison between the Coco Movie and the Book of Life Movie.

-The story of both films is based on life and death (Day of the Dead). (The story behind the Movie Coco is similar than the story behind the Movie The Book of Life).

-The characters of both films show us how heaven and hell were mentioned. (Heaven and hell were mentioned in both films, in Coco both aspects were as important as in The Book of Life).

-Mexican traditions are important in both films. (Mexican traditions are as important in Coco as they are in The Book of Life).

-In the movie The Book of Life shows us how Manolo being in the world of the dead fought against Joaquin in the world of the living for the love of Mary, but Mary already knew who she wanted. While in Coco, Miguel had the opportunity to travel to the world of the dead to fulfill his dream which was to be a musician and has to look for his grandfather. (Manolo´s dream is as interesting as Miguel´s one).

-Both stories take place in a small but very beautiful town, showing the culture of Mexico as its clothing, music, food and its dates. (Clothing, music, food and its dates in Coco were as relevant aspects as in The Book of Life).

-In both films November 2 is a very important date for both main characters since it is the day when they can see their relatives and be with them even if they do not see them, they know they are there. (In Coco, November 2 is as special date as in The Book of Life).

-Miguel (Main character of the movie The Book of Life) is a boy who, like Manolo (Main character of the movie Coco), dreams of being a musician; both stories are set in Mexico and the theme has to do with The Day of the Dead; there are guitars and reunion with dead relatives. (The main character dreams, the location and the theme of each film were as interesting characteristics in Coco as in The Book of Life).

-The main character of the Movie Coco is a child and in The Book of Life the character grows. (The main character of Coco is younger than The Book of Life main character).

-The goals of the main characters are different; one seeks love and another reveals their family history. (The goals of the main characters in both films are less different).

-Both films talk about the Day of the Dead, although with slightly different stories. Coco was actually a film about love and loss, set in Mexican folklore. Both also fall on messages about family and friendship. One is a kind of love triangle, The Book of Life, while the other, Coco, is about a boy who learns about his family's history. (In Coco, family and friendship are as interesting values as in The Book of Life).

-In the same way, the characters venture towards 'The Land of the Dead', an important moment during their journey, their history, something that happens in both films. Both films were released around October. (Coco film was released as the same time as The Book of Life film).

-Both stories have a musical cut and some of their characters not only sing, but play the guitar during the staging. (Musical cut in Coco is as beautiful as in The Book of Life).

-The animation technique in both movies is similar: Some elements and colors of the Mexican celebration are present in the scenes, the animation is equally similar between one film and another: Colors, angles and even approach to Mexican culture in the images. (The animation of Coco Film is similar than The Book of Life Film).

-In the end both characters from both films end up singing and their families realize that what they want is good, they support them and live happily. (The end of Coco is the same as The Book of Life).
